New DU Life Sciences and Technologies Building

With each year Daugavpils University becomes more active and modern, giving more possibilities of choice and opportunities to its students and staff. The new built Life Sciences and Technologies Building, which had been solemnly opened on 22nd August 2014, is a clear proof of it. Now beside the Daugavpils University study building at 1 Parādes Street  it is possible to observe a freshly built attractive building – a functional study and investigation corpus, which will become a new research and technologies centre, reflecting the latest tendences of science development.

11607-12826-mGreeting speeches by Andis Geižans, the Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia, by Raimonds Vējonis, the Ministry of Protection of Latvia, by Jānis Lačplēsis, the Chairman of Daugavpils City Council, by Arvīds Barševskis, the Rector of Daugavpils University, and by Pēteris Dzirkals, the representative of LLC „Latvijas Energoceltnieks” have made the  opening ceremony even more special.

The Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Education and Science, Andis Geižāns, during his speech mentioned that „the new Life Sciences and Technologies corpuss could surely become a visit card of Daugavpils city”.

The Rector of Daugavpils University, Arvīds Barševskis, emphasized that „the new built Life Sciences and Technologies corpus is currently one of the most modern study and investigation centres in Latvia with extremely expensive and unique equipment”.

11608-12827-mState Secretary of Ministry of Education and Science, Sanda Liepiņa, had noticed that „actually the new block’s opening ceremony serves as an example of right work for other universities of Latvia, as well as makes us hoping for a successful work of its laboratories and science complexes, which will help students to find their own way in science, realize their knowledge and use it in future to improve Latvian market”.

Good and friendly wishes by rectors of other Latvian universities and academies , by representatives of Latvian city councils and Swedbank, and by deputies had been also pronounced during the ceremony.

11606-12825-mThe guests of the opening ceremony had a great possibility of getting acquainted with the building’s laboratories and study rooms.

Scientists of biology, chemistry, physics, hidroecology, biotechnology and other laboratories have already moved into the recently built corpus. Starting from 1st September 2014 current and future students of The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics will be able to study and research in the modern Life Sciences and Technologies Building.
