    APPLICATION PROCEDURE

    Please fill in online application form , add curriculum vitae and motivation letter (2000 – 3000 characters with spaces).

    EVALUATION

    The final decision on granting scholarships will be made by the evaluation committeee of State Education Development Agency Republic of Latvia. Daugavpils University will inform all applicants on the results.

    COSTS

    Scholarship covers accommodation, catering, lectures, workshops, excursions and study tours, and all cultural activities.

    Students will be ensured with the living place in Biplan Guest House Aleksandria (Stacijas iela 65/67, Daugavpils), that is 10 – 15 min. walk to University.

    PARTICIPANTS: bachelor,  master, doctoral students, academic and research staff of foreign higher education institutions.

    Latvian language and culture summer school “Experience and Feel Latvia” comprises two parts: Latvian language learning and culture activities with integrated language learning.

    PRELIMINARY PROGRAMME OF THE SUMMER SCHOOL

    The language of instruction is Latvian and English.
    All students will be provided with language learning materials.
    Students  completing a course will be issued a certificate of attendance (6 ECTS).

    Students from the following countries can apply for scholarship.

    Scholarship  covers all participation costs except travel, visa and insurance costs (participants of the summer school have to cover travel expenses from the country of origin to the summer school location in Daugavpils themselves).

    Scholarships will be granted to 10 students by evaluating application form, motivation letters and curriculum vitae.

    The main aim and objectives:

    • To provide an opportunity to learn Latvian language and culture as well as encourage foreigners to get acquainted with Latvian society, raise awareness of Latvian state and Latvian cultural space;
    • To popularize Latvian language and give an opportunity to learn Latvian language as a foreign language in Eastern region of Latvia;
    • To introduce Latvian language learners with Latvian culture, history and education opportunities;
    • To promote the awarness of Latvian language abroad, offering its members to learn and develop Latvian language A1 at all basic skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening);
    • To promote Latvian and Daugavpils University cooperation with a foreign higher education institutions and small businesses, which specializes in regional culinary heritage or handicraft products.To encourage learners to use Latvian language in the public space;

    Summer School “Experience and Feel Latvia” is an excellent opportunity to experience Eastern Latvia and learn Latvian language in multicultural environment.
