Comparative Perspectives and Contextual Challenges in Religious and Values Education

Professor of the Center of Sustainable Education of Daugavpils University  Dzintra Iliško has attended the twenty first session of the international seminar on Religious Education and Values that was held in Nürnberg, Germany, at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg from July, 29 to August 3, 2018.

The main theme of ISREV XXI is “Comparative Perspectives and Contextual Challenges in Religious and Values Education”. There were five sub-themes which were addressed in the plenary sessions:

1 – Role and contribution of confessional and non-confessional religious education

2 – Religious and/or values education pedagogy and curriculum in plural contexts

3 – Addressing spirituality in religion and values education in secular societies.

4 – Comparative research in religious and/or values education.

5 –Contextualizing religious education research in higher education and teacher training. The participants of the seminar were researchers and professors from Latvia, Scandinavia, USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, Netherlands, UK, and other countries who shared their research of religious and contextual issues in a comparative discourse.
