University of Daugavpils held an International scientific – practical conference

On April 24-26 University of Daugavpils held the 10th International Conference on Biodiversity Research. Conference was attended by more than 80 participants. The aim of the conference was to provide a platform where researchers can exchange the knowledge and ideas in the fields of zoology, botany, mycology, population ecology, paleobiology, environmental protection and other fields.
The main moderators of plenary session presented the following topics:
- Gunta Deksne „ Food borne parasites: myths or truths”;
- Polina Degtjarenko „Resolving relationships in species – pairs o lichen forming fungi”;
- Linas Balciuskas „Advances of contemporary mammalogy in Lithuania”;
- Ingrida Šauliene „Innovations to reduce the impact of allergenic pollen load on human health”.
Within the framework of this international conference the representatives of University of Daugavpils were able to promote the results of their research and improve the international recognition of their work, as well as find to find like-minded peers for future collaboration in new project application submission. Based on the presented research at the conference scientists will develop publications that will be included in WOS/SCOPUS and other indexes. Also contacts were made to join the network events and EU scientific consortia that are essential for the field.
The first day of the conference (April 24) was organized within the framework of the specific support objective’s 1.1.1.5. Support for international collaboration projects in research and innovation project No. 1.1.1.5/18/I/013 “Support for University of Daugavpils for implementation of scientific innovations and promotion of international research capacity”.
