IMPLEMENTION OF THE TWINNING PROJECT IN GEORGIA

The implementation of the European Union Twinning project in Georgia “Supporting inter-sectoral collaboration possibilities between Research and Industry” is started on 1 April 2020.
The aim of this project is to enhance the capacity of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia (SRNSFG) by revising and improving existing programmes and operational activities of SRNSFG in response to national priorities and socio-economic challenges, considering regional and international context. The project will address the absence of the science-business collaboration, promote intersectoral multidisciplinary research opportunities and support advancement of the science, technology and innovation system in Georgia.
Two years long project will be implemented by the lead partner Umweltbundesamt GmbH, Austria together with Joanneum Research, Austria, Austrian Science Fund, Austria, Austrian Research Promotion Agency, German Aerospace (DLR) Project Management Agency, and Daugavpils University, Latvia.
The project will be implemented by Austrian, German and Latvian experts, whereas the European Commission has allocated EUR 1.3 million for the implementation thereof.
