Foreign Students Defend their Thesis at Daugavpils University

On April 2, 2015 doctoral student EUGENIUSZ SWITALA from Poland defended his theses „Teachers’ values related to sustainable development in Polish and Latvian secondary schools” in Daugavpils University at the open meeting of Doctorate Council for Pedagogy.

The doctoral thesis has been elaborated at the Institute of Sustainable Education of the Faculty of Education and Management at Daugavpils University within the doctoral program “Support for the Implementation of Doctoral Studies at Daugavpils University”, 2nd stage as an interdisciplinary research work for obtaining a doctoral degree in school pedagogy. The conceptual and methodological frame of reference of the thesis is based on constructivism and holism. The theses presented results of the research on values related to sustainable development in Poland and Latvia by secondary school teachers in the perspective of socio cultural context and its influence on education and ESD.
