The knowledge, tools and methods developed by scholars and practitioners working with these concepts were adjusted to SWEDEST partners to design a generic IBA. SWEDEST is a research and development Centre within Uppsala University, the centre promotes Education for Sustainable Development.
Among the participants of the workshop there were SWEDEST members from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Russia, Belorussia, and Ukraine, and Sweden.
This workshop has offered a unique opportunity for students to build capacity in facilitating multi-stakeholder processes. The students were introduced to a set of methods that are critical for initiating, maintaining and successfully concluding collaborative learning and multi-stakeholder processes under conditions of complexity, uncertainty and controversy. The course draws on a selected set of theories related to learning, facilitation and governance. The focus of the workshop was on learning new forms of governance based on improved collaboration between stakeholders that carries a potential for tackling complex and contested problems. The participants of a workshop have developed their capacity to facilitate change processes by involving different stakeholders, using relevant real-world cases that they bring from their professional life and develop during the workshop.
