13th International JTEFS/BBCC Conference “Sustainable Development. Culture. Education:
Interplay of Traditions and Innovations in Education for Sustainable Development”

The Baltic and Black Sea Circle Consortium in Education Research (BBCC) invites professional educators who have an interest in development of Sustainable Education and development of Research for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and who care about fostering reorientation of education on aim of sustainable development (www.ise-lv.eu/) .
This year 2015 BBCC celebrates the 10th anniversary, since its name was obtained in the Third International Conference Sustainable Development. Culture. Education in the University of Vechta (Germany, 2005).
The 1st Announcement for the 13th International JTEFS/BBCC Conference “Sustainable Development. Culture. Education: Traditions and Innovations in Education for Sustainable Development”
In 2015, the organisation of the 13th conference edition will be the responsibility and privilege of Daugavpils University and Riga Technical University from Latvia. Both host Universities will work in close cooperation with University of Vechta, Tallinn University, Siauliai University, University of Latvia and Latvia University of Agriculture.
In the course of the twelve years since its establishment, this conference has grown into a leading scientific forum where researchers and practitioners concerned with care for sustainability in education and global sustainable development can share their visions of current trends, challenges and future prospects in the complex field that is the research and practice of sustainability-oriented education. In addition, the conference has become a springboard for joint international research projects and other collaborative initiatives among BBCC members. Renewed for its unique spirit of the academic integrity and excellence, collegial respect and appreciation, this landmark scientific event annually attracts over a hundred participants who are both experienced experts and novices to researching sustainability‑oriented education.
We invite all those who feel ready to contribute to BBCC network’s international scholarly efforts targeted at researching current educational practices and their orientation to sustainability to attend the 13th JTEFS/BBCC conference “Sustainable Development. Culture. Education”. More information will follow in the second announcement in October on BBCC website (http://www.ise-lv.eu/) with details about registration and proposal submission, conference sections, participant fees and other important organisational issues.
Proposed Conference Sections:
* Sections will be announced in January 2015 after the analysis of proposals from registered participants. We recommend to send proposals which comply with conference general topic Sustainable development. Culture. Education and sub-topic Interplay of Traditions and Innovations for Education for Sustainable Development
Mode of Participation:
Following modes of participation are suggested for the Conference participants:
Presentations at the plenary session are given by Keynote speakers, who are invited by the Scientific Committee of the Conference and who are recognized specialists in the area.
Paper presentations have been allocated 20 minutes and have been grouped into paper sessions. Dissemination of handouts is highly appreciated. Each paper session will have a chair person.
Workshops provide training in the area of research, methods, interventional programmes, etc. The length of the workshops will range between 90 and 120 minutes depending upon their scale and scope.
Posters are presentations of scientific work in a graphical form. Maximum size will be 90 cm width by 190 cm height. At the time of poster presentation, at least one of the authors must be present.
Conference Fee: 100 EUR

Annual Conference moves from place to place each year.
Previous editions of the conference have been hosted by different BBCC members, including Daugavpils University (Latvia), Tallinn Pedagogical University (Estonia), University of Vechta (Germany), University of Helsinki (Finland), University of Debrecen (Hungary), Anadolu University (Turkey), UNESCO (France), Siauliai University (Lithuania), University of Eastern Finland (Finland) and Saint-Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Russia), Poland (Chelm).

**) Post – conference event after 13th BBCC conference on 7-8 May in Riga and Jelgava!
Conference participants can take part in International discussions organized by Centre of Educational Innovations and UNESCO Chair of Daugavpils University in cooperation with Technical University (Riga) and Latvian Agricultural University (Jelgava) Traditions and Innovations for Sustainable education: European Union values for global development. International discussion will beorganized on 7th May in Riga and on 8th May in Jelgava. Information about the additional event after 13th BBCC conference will be announced in the beginning of October. Participation in the International discussions will be free of charge, registration will be announced on 13th BBCC conference home page in October.
