The aim of the study programme is to provide the students matriculated in DU with the opportunity to acquire theoretical knowledge and research skills and abilities in the science of economics, thus providing the higher academic education and giving the opportunity to continue studies in master programmes.

The tasks of the study programme are:

  • to provide the opportunity for the students to qualitatively and successfully acquire the study programme, integrating various sub-branches of economics and branches from other sciences (computer science, mathematics, foreign languages) into the study process;
  • to develop students’ abilities of scientific analysis for explaining causal relationship in economics and their skills to resolve topical problems of contemporary economics;
  • to provide students with the opportunity to acquire practical skills of applying modern technologies;
  • to train students for scientific research and further studies in master study programmes in the same branch or in the branch or sub-branch of the science related to it.

As a result of the programme’s acquisition, the graduate will acquire and be able to demonstrate:

Knowledge:
Students are able to demonstrate basic and specialized knowledge specific of the branch of economics and understanding of most important concepts and regularities of this branch: in theory of microeconomics and macroeconomics, marketing, finances and accounting, management; students are able to demonstrate basic and specialized knowledge specific of the branch of economics in the inter-branch aspect and understanding of most essential concepts and regularities in this aspect:

  • in the application of special computer programs for researching, modeling and prognosticating economic processes;
  • in the use of mathematical analysis and statistic elements to investigate and interpret economic processes;
  • in applied communication in a foreign language;
  • in disciplines of general education: sociology, political science, psychology etc.

Skills:
By applying the acquired theoretical basis and skills in economics, students are able:

  • to carry out professional, innovative or research activities;
  • to formulate and analytically describe information, problems and solutions in the science of economics;
  • to prepare presentations of their research results and to outline and discuss them by producing arguments with both specialists and non-specialists;
  • to independently structure their learning;
  • to demonstrate a scientific approach to solving economic problems;
  • to take responsibility and initiative when working individually, in a team or managing other people’s work;
  • to take decisions and find creative solutions in changeable or unclear conditions.

Competence:
Students are able independently:

  • to obtain, select and analyze information and use it to interpret economic processes;
  • to take decisions and resolve problems in the branch of economics;
  • to demonstrate ability of understanding professional ethics;
  • to evaluate the impact of their professional activity upon the environment and society and participate in the development of the fields of the branch of economics.
