The title of the project: “Establishing of Scholarships for Language and Culture Studies in Latvia and Norway with the Focus on Studies of Monuments to Famous Persons and Their Testing for the Needs of Tourism” (ID EEZ/NFI/S/2015/011)
The overall aim of the project: in the framework of the project, Daugavpils University (Latvia) and Buskerud and Vestfold University College (Norway) will contribute to the promotion of the students’ and the academic staff’s mobility between Latvia and the European Free Trade Association states of the European Economic Area.
The specific aim of the project: to strengthen the academic partnership and research cooperation by involving into exchange the students of bachelor, master and doctoral study programmes, the teaching staff and the researchers from both partner institutions. By obtaining new study experience, applying innovative methodological approaches and carrying out research on the monuments to famous people in the cultural environment of the project partner states, which will be researched and prepared in the format of publications according to the methodology developed and approbated in the framework of the project, the students and the academic staff involved in the mobility will ensure the innovative character, interdisciplinarity and sustainability of the project.
The transfer of the project results to a wider public will be ensured by the publication of the results of the students’ and the academic staff’s research on the monuments to famous people in Latvia and Norway. On this basis the recommendations for the inclusion of the monuments into the tourist routs of the capital cities and their regions in Latvia and Norway will be prepared with the aim for Norwegian tourists to get acquainted with the Latvian national identity and for Latvian tourists to get acquainted with the Norwegian national identity by means of the interpretation of the monuments.
The target group of the project: in the framework of the project Daugavpils University and Buskerud and Vestfold University College announce the internal competition the goal of which is to select for studies / research in Norway, Liechtenstein or Iceland the students (11 mobilities within the project) and the academic staff (8 mobilities within the project)
