Latvian Language and Culture Summer School “CHALLENGES OF ETHNOTOURISM AND ECOTOURISM IN LATGALE AND SELONIA”

For the 4th time, Daugavpils University, in cooperation with the Republic of Latvia State Education Development Agency, will organize a Latvian Language and Culture Summer School. This year the topic is “CHALLENGES OF ETHNOTOURISM AND ECOTOURISM IN LATGALE AND SELONIA”.
Summer School “CHALLENGES OF ETHNOTOURISM AND ECOTOURISM IN LATGALE AND SELONIA” is an excellent opportunity to experience Latgale and Selonia and learn Latvian language in multicultural environment. Latvian Language and Culture Summer School “CHALLENGES OF ETHNOTOURISM AND ECOTOURISM IN LATGALE AND SELONIA” comprises two parts: Latvian language learning and regional tourism practice with integrated language learning.

Theaimsofthecourse are to popularize Latvian languag eand give an opportunity to learn Latvian languageas a foreign language in Eastern region of Latvia, introduce Latvian language learners with regional culture, history, tourism and education opportunities, promotethea warness of Latvian language abroad, offeringits members to learn and develop Latvian language A1 and A2 at all basic skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening), promote objects and institutions in Latgale and Selonia with import antrolein regional ecotourism and ethnotourism and encourage learners to use Latvian language in the public space.
Location: Daugavpils University, Vienibas street 13, Daugavpils.
Students from the following countries only are eligible to apply: United States of America, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium (Walloon-BrusselsFederation), Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, South Korea, France, Greece, Georgia, Croatia, Estonia, Indonesia, Iceland, Italy, Israel, Japan, Kazakhstan, Citizenof Kyrgyzstan, People’s Republic of China, Lithuania, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Norway, Peru, Poland, Slovakia, Finland, Spain, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Germany, and Sweden.
Participants: bachelor, master, doctoral students, academic and research staff of foreign higher education institutions.
Evaluation: The final decision on granting scholarships will be made by the evaluation committee of State Education Development Agency Republic of Latvia. Daugavpils University will inform all applicants on the results.
Credits: Students completing a course will be issued a certificate of attendance (6 ECTS).
Funding: Scholarships will be granted to 10 students by evaluating application form, motivation letters and curriculum vitae. Scholarship covers accommodation, catering, lectures, workshops, excursions and study tours, and all cultural activities.Students will be ensured with the living place.
Scholarship covers all participation costs except travel, visa and insurance costs (participants of the summer school have to cover travel expenses from the country of origin to the summer school location in Daugavpils themselves).
Registration: Candidates are welcome to apply by filling online application form, and adding curriculum vitae and motivation letter (2000 – 3000 characters with spaces) between 1 February and 1 April 2020.
